LIM S _ LIM L

3rd semester

ergonomie 1

the task of the project was to develop handheld, high-precision, wireless tools that ergonomically improve the everyday lives of craftsmen.

The target group and design language of festool should be taken into account.

In the process, we decided to improve manual glue application.

lim helps to apply glue precisely and evenly and is operated with compressed air.

For an introduction to the topic, we have informed ourselves about traditional hand held tools and created an overview of the Festool product catalogue. We then conducted interviews with various craftsmen in order to identify problems with products and overall work processes.

In order to allow various application possibilities we planned to develop two products early on.

Similar to the manual brush change, you have the possibility to choose between surface and detailed application.

Afterwards we made sketches and built first ergonomics models.

At this point, however, we had to take care of the technical aspects, because the glue should be applied as evenly as possible.

For reasons, such as weight, we decided against installing a rechargeable battery and to work with compressed air. Therefore, the two products include a charging station, where the glue is stored, which is linked to the compressed air connection.

lim s is used to glue edges, glue lamellas together and generally to apply glue to small surfaces.

We chose a pen shape with a triangular cross-section to create three handle options for variable use

For this purpose we have designed three different silicone attachments.

lim l is designed for large-area application and its attachment ensures precision by protecting the glue from leaking through lateral silicone flaps. The application direction is linear back and forth.

the shape is reminiscent of the grip area of other tools, e.g. borer tools.

Lim l is activated by a pressure knob on the front, which is accessible from all handle positions. In addition, there is a rotary knob on the side for adjusting the glue quantity.
