In the course eco-&educationdesign we dealt with ecology in schools.

Through interviews with students and teachers we developed the concept of the 1-0-1.

Inside the 1-0-1, valuable objects can be locked up easily, safely and from any location thanks to the innovative belt buckle.

In order to familiarize ourselves with the topic, we began with a detailed research of the ecological and educational requirements. We also visited two different schools, a private one and later a public secondary school.

we clustered the statements of the interviews on post-it's according to subject areas and created a persona, so we could clarify wishes and criticism and found out in which areas there is a special need at the school.

Our main topics consisted of: chill area, room divider and "Ulmer Hocker"

reloaded.

This means a piece of furniture which is as simple and versatile as the "Ulmer Hocker", in comparison to today's world. We also decided on this concept.

we designed concepts, from flexible fabric bags to hardcase-boxes with various use cases.

they are all independent of the design of their counterparts. however, we saw the most potential in a storage possibility with a hardcase. this makes it clear that it is a kind of "safe" and less a fashionable accessory.

To guarantee safety, the belt is made of dyneema, a cut-resistant material originally developed by the military.

the case is made of recycled aluminium, so we ensure durability and safety for our product.

in spite of the standard case, the 1-0-1 can be individualized with an exchangeable belt.

A belt retractor with locking function retracts the belt when not in use. this way, the 1-0-1 can be closed tightly and transported easily.

the bag can also be opened while

carrying, as the belt runs in a guide and is thus stopped.
